The Monument
This statue was unveiled in 1939 just prior to the outbreak of World War II to mark the eastern end of the QEW in Toronto.Too many cars collided with it so it was moved to a location near Lake Ontario.

Picture from May 2005. This is Plains Road today but was an earlier alignment of the QEW in Burlington.
Distance sign on Highway 405
Highway 405 connects the Queenston Lewiston Bridge to USA with the QEW at the east end of the Garden City Skyway in St Catharines. No local traffic is permitted past Stanley Avenue. This is for motorists who have entered Canada. Prior to Y2004 local traffic could exit just before the Q-L bridge but Security Improvemnts changed that.
