The Monument
This statue was unveiled in 1939 just prior to the outbreak of World War II to mark the eastern end of the QEW in Toronto. Too many cars collided with it so it was moved to a location near Lake Ontario.
As Queen Elizabeth, wife of Kung George, it was dedicated.
As Queen Mother it was dedicated again at its relocated spot.
