Early March 2024. Restaurant closed on Sunday mornibg breakfast.
Located at Highway 16 and 401 one of the early truck stops in eastern Ontario. Picture found on Facebook.
Clappisons Cors - at the intersections of Highways 5 and 6. Just a small diner but popular with truckers heading to Hamilton from around Ontario.
Truck was probably waiting for Sunday and unloading at Canadian Fruit and Produce.
This was originally an ESSO Keystop and changed to Petro Can Petro Pass.
Facing Dixie Road just north of Britannia.
Seen from Ordan Drive, the back street that actually allows access to this stop.
A small fuel stop in southwest Mississauga. Ammenities are limited to store and showers. Nobody, well one T800 from Trimac, was there on the Saturday evening of the Labour Day Weekend.
Kenworth from Sterling Trucking O/O laid over.
Two Trimac cement haulers are at the fuel pumps. CanadaClean Fuels making a delivery.
The diesel pump at the back of the station on Highway 7 outside Georgetown is a little more faded and there is an extention hose to reach the second fuel tank on the bigger trucks shows this is a commercial pump.
April 20 2023. No indication of any Husky involvement. Husky sold the business to EESO/Parkland. ESSO branded fuel sold there now.
This was more famously the Chalet Restaurant truck stop. The owner of the Chalet passed in 2022. Not sure if itis still open 2022/3.
I have to pass on some sad news. This man wasn't a trucker but he cooked up and served more bacon and eggs than probably any one else around. John Chronopoulos, the owner of the old Chalet Restaurant has passed away. For you older truckers a lot of you might remember that place. It was on the west side of Highway 25 north of the 401 in Milton. When he bought the restaurant in the early 70's it had an "A" frame entrance and when the town told him he couldn't tear down the old building, he built the...

new restaurant around the old one. A lot of truckers would fuel up at the 5th wheel, maybe sleep there but go to John's for breakfast. If something went wrong you'd hear from the kitchen in a Greek accent "Jezamachrist that stupids". He didn't suffer fools, but had a heart of gold. When he laughed, his face would light up with the humour. His friends from Greece also worked with him, Dimos as a cook and Adrianna as a waitress. We spent a lot of time there, eating, drinking coffee, visiting with old and new friends. Judy Greenfield Bonner - January 2022.
No longer has a restaurant . Fuel stop, convenience store and garage.
The NOTL, which I consider to be in St Catharines, had an ESSO Cardlock for commercial vehicles in 2010. Transport Grp Robert and CEVA were getting fuel. It is run by BVD and now operates under Petrocan banner.
Internationals parked on Sunday morning.
CanAmex at fuel pumps Early March 2024
Parking lot and scales at the Husky truckstop at Courtney Park and Highway 410 in Mississauga
It might still be Husky but the cardlock wears an ESSO sign.
Another of the old time truck stops that was basically a diner with gas pumps and a diesel pump. It was closed and for sale when I found this picture. It was located near the village of Wawa on Highway 17.
Freightliner from Nova Scotia parked at Clarkson Petro-Pass Sunday afternoon.
Highway 115 north of Highway 401
The truck was idling, warming up and ready to return. Another truck from the same company had just left the truck stop.
This building was the Queensway Drive In , a busy truck stop-diner on The Queensway in west end Toronto.
A small PetroPass stop near Highway 401 in east Milton.

Parking at the Husky on Shawson Drive in Mississauga.
Shawson Drive Husky
A garment bag I purchased in the 1970's in Rochester NY. It still hangs in my closet today.
