HOV Ends

The QEW/403 has an HOV lane in each direction in Oakville and Burlington. This is the sign indicating the end of the HOV lane on the eastbound highway. The tall mast in the background holds a TV camera for the COMPASS traffic control system,

Toronto bound QEW and 403 Merge

The lanes to the left are the Toronto bound QEW coming from the James N.Allen Burlington Bay Skyway Bridge. The lanes on the right are the eastbound 403. The 403 will be co-signed with the QEW for 22 kilometers to Oakville where the two highways diverge.

Gardiner Expressway approaching Spadina

The F.G. Gardiner Expressway is the continuation road leading into downtown Toronto. This road was never a Provincial highway and the Province of Ontario actually downloaded the QEW from Highway 427 to the Humber River to the City including it into the Gardiner. Despite all the squabbling who will pay for maintenance it is essentially one highway for motorists.
