Abandoned House near Georgetown
Small Boarded Up House Trafalgar Road
This house, north of Number 10 side road is smaller and closer to the road than many of the farm houses near Georgetown. Perhaps it was for a "hired man" or a son and family away from the main house.

South of the hamlet of Agerton, east side of Trafalgar (7th Line). Trafalgar Township Halton County. now Town of Milton, Halton Region.

Barn and tall silo are gone.
Steeles Ave Farm
This farm was on Steeles Avenue in Hornby. It gradually crumbled from disuse. It was located across from the Hornby Park. Steeles Avenue has been widened and a Halton Police station will be built on part of the park property.
Trafalgar and Derry barn 12-24-11
In 2011 the large barn was still standing at the farm at the intersection of Trafalgar and Derry Roads. It was unused and falling down at that time.

May 2023 - the house and barn on 8th line south of Derry in Milton have been torn down. There was a dumpster Bin sitting on site on Saturday May 5, 2023.

Shackleton Farm
In 1948 my parents bought a 4 acre plot of land from Finlay Shackleton who owned this farm on Dundas Highway 5. 2 miles west of Cooksville. This farm went through several owners and the house was finally abandoned the late 1960's. It was damaged by vandals, many of whom probably were upstanding citizens when they grew up. This picture is from our back yard circa 1970.

This farm house at the corner of Derry and Trafalgar Roads has been abandoned and boarded up for many years.

All my adult life I have watched as farms disappear and are replaced by more suburbs. Housing, Retail, Industrial have all taken their toll on the agricultural land of southern Ontario. Here are some pictures of that change.
