Pounding The Diamond

Belfountain Access September 1988
The rails of the Canadian Pacific Owen Sound Sub are rusty from infrequent use by September 1988. The Credit River rushes down the Niagara Escarpment at this point in Forks Of The Credit Provincial park.

Brampton Old Shoe Factory
This is an old industry situated at the northeast quadrant of the CPR-CNR diamond in Brampton. It was renovated and used for smaller offices, showrooms and studios. The connecting track can be seen .
Brampton - Station Hotel?
This building was across the street from the site of the CPR Brampton Station. Most towns that had a station had a hotel close by. The CPR had it's own station in Brampton. This could have been the hotel.

Brampton Diamond 2 Connecting track
Here is the out of service connecting track from the former CPR Orangeville Sub to the CNR Halton Sub. Date - unknown but circa 2005
Brampton Diamond 1
This was the location of a tower when the CPR crossed the CNR . With the increase in traffic on the CNR when this line was upgraded to handle traffic to the new MacMillan Yard the crossing was automated. In the background is the old Dominion Skate building. Picture taken circa 2001

This signal was just before the CN tracks and diamond at mile 7.7 . Trains would hold here until given permission to cross by the light turning green. April 2005.

FORKS OF THE CREDIT Bridge
The most scenic point on the OBRY; the curved bridge over the Credit River and the Forks of the Credit Road in Caledon.
Highway 9 (109) crossing at Orangeville
Anytime might be train time but operations on the OBRY ceased on weekends. People were using the Right OF Way as a walking trail. Today, the tracks are lifted and this is a walking trail.
HO - old bunkhouse Orangeville
Orangeville was a terminal for CP Bruce lines and had a bunk house near the CP station. The internal code for Orangeville was HO August 2005 This building burned the following year.
Inglewood
Another hamlet in rural Caledon. The General Store tried to attract patrons from the Credit Valley Explorer train.

CCGX 1000 was the GP9 locomotive assigned by Cando. Built as QNSL 157 in 1956. Metro canada 157, A Meriless 157 to Cando 1996.

April 2008 finds a newly installed signal hut where the old tower used to stand at the OBRY diamond over the CNR in Brampton. The connecting track has been removed.

August 14 2005 This is the north end of the OBRY with the former CP bunkhouse still standing. It would burn in 2006. Hopper cars are sitting in the yard.

Alpha Mills Road is a level crossing near the south end of the OBRY
Streetsville Historic Station
Although not directly connected with present day OBRY this was the station built by the Credit Valley Railway whose line the OBRY follows to get to Orangeville.

August 14 2005. This is the Streetsville Yard where CP interchanged with OBRY.
The Last Train
The Last Train ran from Orangeville to Streetsville on December 17 2021. The locomotive was a switcher leased from GATX by Gio Rail of Welland. Cando Contracting had given up on the OBRY. and GIO had tried to continue railway service to Orangeville.
