The retail wars were bitterly fought. Sheridan Mall department store anchor was first K-Mart. When that chain closed Zellers took over. Then Hudsons Bay Co , the corporate owner decided to exit the low cost store format Target moved in from the USA. They spent several years converting their stores then they were not price competitive and pulled out of Canada writing down huge losses. Brightwater is a development on the lands that once held the Port Credit Texaco refinery at Lakeshore and Mississauga Roads.
There is a large Chinese population in Mississauga. This is a mall at Creditview and Burnhamthorpe Roads.
A condo development at Clarkson Road at the Metrolinx (former CNR) railway line.
